Chihuly Workshop Announces Newest Print

Sterling Ikebana

Chihuly Workshop announces the release of its newest print, Sterling Ikebana.

Ikebana is a disciplined Japanese floral expression with an emphasis on balance, harmony, and form. These beautiful, minimalistic flower arrangements made an impression on Dale Chihuly during his visits to Japan in the 1980s. Later, Chihuly began integrating the series he refers to as Ikebana, into exhibitions including gardens, glasshouses and conservatories around the world.

The first print edition for 2016, Sterling Ikebana, reveals his attention to form, balance and a mastery of blending colors. Green and fuchsia lithography inks define the bold Ikebana on a slate blue and sterling silver intaglio background. Five different acrylic colors in yellow, blue-green and purple ultimately delineate the organic form and celebrate Chihuly’s free spirit approach to his work on paper. Sterling Ikebana is a four-color intaglio/lithograph with handwork, signed in paint and numbered in pencil.
