In June 2000, Chihuly was the featured artist at the world's largest and most successful wine charity event, the Napa Valley Wine Auction. He was selected by the auction committee to carry out the visual representation of the year's theme, "Kaleidoscope 2000," celebrating the unique role that glass has played in winemaking. Chihuly created several major installations exclusively for the event at four selected valley locations: Clos Pegase, Pine Ridge Winery, Robert Mondavi Winery, and Meadowood Napa Valley.
