Two Chandeliers were commissioned by Kuwait's premier commercial real estate developer, The Tamdeen Group. Sun Court Chandelier is a series of four torqued rings, enlivened with a bright array of yellow, red,
and orange Persian elements. Star Court Chandelier is reminiscent of a cobalt blue star. Both sculptures will hang prominently in the multi-level atrium of the 360° Kuwait mall project in Kuwait City.

Chihulys in Italy

Venice, Italy
March 24 - April 3, 2009
Dale, Leslie, and Jackson traveled to Venice at the end of March, with James Mongrain, one of Dale’s main gaffers, and James' girlfriend Melissa. The highlight of the trip took place in the studio/hotshop of Pino Signoretto.
Chihuly and Pino collaborated on a spectacular series of dragon forms on blown bases. In 1968, Dale received a Fulbright scholarship to study in Venice, where he observed glassblowing and worked in the Venini factory on the island
of Murano. Since that time he has considered Venice to be his favorite city. This summer Dale looks forward to contributing an artwork to the 2009 Venice Biennale, which runs June 7 - November 22, 2009.

Leslie and Dale continue to support Seattle arts with a recent donation to the Seattle Symphony. An edition of 88 Original Limited Edition Prints, Symphony Sisters, was gifted to the Symphony for fundraising purposes
and will officially release to the public in May 2009. Symphony Sisters is a two color lithograph with handwork, printed by Landfall Press in 2000. A monoprint, Mahler’s Eighth Symphony, was also gifted by the
Chihulys and will be featured on the cover of the Seattle Symphony’s soon-to-be-released CD of the same name. Spirits are high with talk of a release party to celebrate the collaboration!
