White Pearl Seaform

2012 Chihuly Workshop Studio Edition

White Pearl Seaform

7 x 8 x 10"

With a refined sculptural agility, White Pearl Seaform draws its impact from a poised elegance shared by its two elements.

The twisting white body wrap laid over clear glass adds motion to the pair as if the two elements are being swept to and fro underwater. The turquoise lip wrap draws the eye outward, away from the interior’s kinetic energy, to the gentle scallop of the sculpture’s outer edges.

Every year, Chihuly creates four Studio Editions, representing Chihuly’s most distinctive series. As every piece is handblown, your artwork may vary slightly in size, color, and shape. Small blemishes or imperfections in the glass are part of the glass blowing process and add to the individual characteristics of each piece.

Includes a copy of Chihuly Seaforms, a compact book including a DVD and an essay by Davira S. Taragin describing the historical and aesthetic contexts of this series.

“The glass is defined as a super-cooled liquid. And it’s transparent, like water. And so the idea that the objects end up looking like they came from the sea is no accident. It is almost like water itself.”

Additional Insights
