Dale and Leslie started the New Year in Palm Springs at the film festival.

Chihuly has created artwork for honorees for more than five years. Past recipients include George Clooney, Gary Oldman, Mark Wahlberg and Glenn Close.

This year, honorees Sally Field, Richard Gere, Helen Mirren and David O. Russell received a Silvered Piccolo Venetian with Carmine Gold Leaves.

Inspired by Italian Art Deco, Chihuly started the Venetian series in 1988 with Italian glassblower Lino Tagliapietra. In 1993, the series developed further into smaller Venetians, the Piccolo Venetians. He continues to work on the series, most recently creating vessels in black and exploring the effects of silvering the glass.

Dale loves movies. Some of his favorite post-war American movies are: A Streetcar Named Desire, Rear Window, To Kill a Mockingbird, Cool Hand Luke, The Graduate, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Godfather and Fargo.
