This spring, Chihuly’s set for Bartók's Bluebeard’s Castle will be presented to Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra patrons for an encore performance. The performance was first seen in 2009.

The set consists of seven doors – six designed by Chihuly – which are individually rotated during the libretto to reveal his artwork.  

Door 1: A torture chamber, streaked with blood represented by Red Reeds

Door 2: An armory, the weapons stained with blood represented by Tiger Lilies and Paintbrushes

Door 3: A treasury represented by Crystal Clubs

Door 4: A secret garden represented by Ferns and Trumpet Flowers

Door 5: A view of Bluebeard's entire kingdom represented by HeronsMarlins, and Neodymium Reeds

Door 6: A lake of tears – represented by Tear Drops and Reichenbach Mirrored Balls

Door 7 - The Former Wives

Originally presented in Seattle on May 31 and June 2, 2007, the Chihuly set has traveled to Milwaukee,Wisconsin; Nashville,Tennessee and Tel Aviv, Israel for a total of 17 performances, to great acclaim.
