The new documentary, Chihuly Outside, is now available on DVD. This film is the third in a series for public television following Chihuly in the Hotshop and Chihuly Fire & Light.

Covering nearly half a century of his work, Chihuly Outside follows his career focusing on his installation works in landscapes and botanic gardens.

The film also documents Chihuly’s Garden Cycle, which began in 2001 at Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago. Since then, he has exhibited at more than a dozen prestigious sites including the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, near London, in 2005.

“The Garden Cycle is unbelievably ambitious in scope and unparalleled in variety: a decade-long project to explore every type of garden, including botanic and desert gardens. No other artist has invented a totally personal idiom based on the invention not only of new forms but also of new techniques based on ancient precedents and a tradition of images of paradise.” – Barbara Rose, American art historian and art critic

In November, PBS started airing the film nationwide. Check for show times in your state. Currently, all three documentaries are airing nationwide.
