Meet Team Chihuly in New ‘Chihuly Voices’ Digital Series

Episode One: Gaffer Jim Mongrain Talks Shop and Cooks Salmon

“I'm very fortunate that I've got a great team, a combination of artists, artisans, facilitators, shippers, packers, architects, engineers, and the list goes on. I work with different people in different ways, and at the end of the day, I feel extremely lucky.” –Dale Chihuly

Chihuly was first exposed to the team approach to glassblowing in the 1960s as a student training at the Venini factory on the island of Murano, Italy. He soon incorporated the concept into his own artmaking practice and shared it with art students at schools in the U.S., such as Rhode Island School of Design and Pilchuck Glass School.

Team Chihuly is a collective of individuals—many of whom are accomplished artists in their own right—who help Chihuly realize his creative vision. Hear stories from members of Team Chihuly in a new digital series titled “Chihuly Voices.” In the first episode, glass artist and gaffer Jim Mongrain talks shop and shares a salmon recipe from his Western Washington home.
