Chihulys Honored by America's Car Museum at 2018 Annual Gala

Saturday, September 8, Dale and Leslie Chihuly served as Honorary Co-Chairs at the 2018 Wheels & Heels Annual Gala presented by America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, Washington. Prior to the Gala event, the Museum held its Concourse Club Annual Gathering at which Chihuly was named 2018 Master Collector, along with fellow automobile enthusiast and collector Brown M. Maloney. Other honorees at the Gathering included Bill Warner and Keith Flickinger, who received the Nicole Bulgari Award and Master Craftsman Award, respectively.

When describing a Master Collector, AAT’s Vice Chairman David L. Madeira said he “looks beyond a category of cars, or an individual collection, to the rare individuals whose passion, leadership and expertise are core to sustaining America’s Automotive Heritage.

In addition to recognizing Chihuly as a Master Collector, America’s Car Museum is presenting a yearlong “Master Collector” exhibit featuring cars donated to the institution by the artist, including a ’71 Citroën DS 21, ’67 Volkswagen Camper Bus, and ’58 Ford Fairlane 500.

“By far, the greatest design achievement of the twentieth century would have been the cars of America.” – Dale Chihuly

The Wheels & Heels Annual Gala is America’s Automotive Trust’s largest fundraiser to support its commitment to preserving America’s automotive heritage.
