A Salute to Pino Signoretto (1944–2017)

Dale Chihuly and Pino Signoretto, The Boathouse hotshop, Seattle, 1991

This morning more than 150 people from the region’s arts community gathered at Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle to celebrate the life of master sculptor, Pino Signoretto. The program included welcome statements from Leslie Jackson Chihuly, Michelle Bufano, Executive Director at Chihuly Garden and Glass, memories shared by glass artists William Morris, Paul DeSomma and Patricia Davidson, and a lovely short film developed by filmmaker Peter West.

Dale and Pino shared many years of friendship and collaboration. Upon learning of Pino’s passing in December, Dale shared the following statement:

“Pino was one of my best friends and one of the greatest glass sculptors of our time. He made extraordinary pieces, and his skill and deep generosity of spirit helped not only me, but hundreds of other artists realize their creative vision.

Goodbye, Pino. We will always remember you and love you.” – Dale Chihuly

Chihuly Studio is heartbroken to lose our dear friend Pino. He was a brilliant glass master, and he had a passion for life that was contagious. This is an immense loss for the glass community. Pino’s work, his mentoring and generosity inspired a generation of artists. Our hearts go out to his family, his team, and to all who were fortunate to know him.
