MASTERPIECES II BY CHIHULY

American artist Dale Chihuly has collaborated with The Rug Company to create four rugs inspired by Chihuly’s iconic glass oeuvre. The collection, entitled Masterpieces II, pays homage to a variety of the artist’s techniques and styles, collectively defined by his bold use of color, form, and movement. Known for revolutionizing the studio glass movement, Chihuly, like The Rug Company, is recognized for pushing the boundaries to create new, experimental art form. This collection marks Chihuly’s second collaboration with The Rug Company and is an evolution of Masterpieces, which first explored the artist’s glasswork in 2020. The background of this collection is Venice, a city that played a significant role in Chihuly’s artistic journey. It was here, early in his career, that Chihuly learned Italian glassmaking techniques at the famed Venini factory and later exhibited his work across the city’s celebrated canals and architectural spaces.
