Chihuly Workshop announces the release of its newest print, Merry Berry.
In 1989, the act of adding individual elements resembling stems within a vessel was the impetus behind a budding new series for Dale Chihuly, Ikebana. Merry Berry calls upon the series’ emphasis on balance and form. Against a rococo red background, the base of this single Ikebana is outlined in deep blue ink and enhanced by the application of vermillion-red acrylic paint. Sinuous lines of navy blue and contrasting pearlized white acrylic lines transfuse the spacious interior of the base element with a kinetic energy that vibrates upward through the strikes of silver ink and blue-green painted stems. Merry Berry is signed by Chihuly in gunmetal paint.
