Spring Green Persian
Spring Green Persian
While conceptualizing the Basket, Seaform, and Macchia series, Dale Chihuly explored new ways to create thinner, stronger compositions. He discovered that optic molds used during the early stages of the glassblowing process resulted in “ribs” that provide the structural support necessary to manipulate the glass, allowing the twisted and arced characteristics that distinguish Chihuly’s agile Persian series. Debuted in the mid-1980s, this series ignites the imagination with its seductive, fragile appearance.
A 2020 Studio Edition, Spring Green Persian is a two-piece composition that expresses the wild asymmetry of this exotic series. Concentric bands of opaque apple green envelop the fan-shaped amber-green element with a hypnotic rhythm. An extraordinary form rests within its folds, unfurling in hues of rose-gold and pale green. Skimming the edge of each element, a dark green lip wrap emphasizes the dynamic forms.

Every year, Chihuly creates new Studio Editions, representing Chihuly’s most distinctive series. As every piece is handblown, your artwork may vary slightly in size, color, and shape. Small blemishes or imperfections in the glass are part of the glass blowing process and add to the individual characteristics of each piece.

“Their energy expands and explodes the fundamental spherical or cylindrical shapes of blown glass into eccentric and unforeseen new forms.”
