Last month, Artist Trust held its annual Benefit Art Auction at the Seattle Center. The event was attended by art enthusiasts from the greater Seattle community and raised over $550,000 to provide resources, training, and grant programs for Washington state artists. The organization successfully raised $100,000 more than their goal!

Members of Team Chihuly represented the Studio at the event which featured music by KEXP’s DJ Sharlese, and an excerpt from “Her Name is Isaac,” a multidisciplinary, modern dance performance by The Three Yells choreographed by Veronica Lee-Baik.

Artist Trust creates opportunities for local artists through programs such as the coveted Arts Innovator Award (funded by the Dale and Leslie Chihuly Foundation). The award celebrates artists who push the boundaries in their chosen mediums with artwork that demonstrates innovative thinking and strays outside the lines of conventionality. This year, multimedia artist Paul Rucker and poet Quenton Baker—both previous recipients of the Award – were selected for the honor. Past recipients have included artists in the literary, visual, performance, and emerging and cross-disciplinary fields.

Artist Trust is a nonprofit dedicated to helping Washington State artists of all disciplines thrive since 1986. It has invested over $10 million in Washington State artists through funding, training, and resources and has provided programs that meet the changing needs of artists.
