On Tuesday, April 3, Dale and Leslie Chihuly were inducted into the College of Fine Arts Hall of Fame at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The Chihuly’s were selected to receive the honor for their individual and collective contributions to the visual and performing arts.
The 2018 induction ceremony honored nine individuals from sectors including architecture, music, visual arts, and education, including architect and urban planner Denise Scott Brown, Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté, and Claudette Robinson, former member of The Miracles and the “First Lady of Motown.”
During the ceremony, the Koep Dean’s Medal was presented to broadcaster and UNLV professor Dr. Harvey Allen and to William “Bill” Lowman, who helped found the Las Vegas Symphony and Nevada School of the Arts. Artist and UNLV associate professor Tim Bavington was honored as Alumnus of the Year.
Past inductees to the Hall of Fame, which was founded in 2003 to honor those who have made significant impacts in the visual arts, performing arts and architecture, include Tony Curtis; Phyllis McGuire; Robert Goulet; The Killers; Liberace; and Penn & Teller, among others. Learn more at unlv.edu.
