The Library

The Library*

Adjacent to The Ball Room is The Library, where hundreds of art books are featured on custom shelves designed by Chihuly and his team. An appreciator of books with cloth covers, Chihuly instructed his team to remove the dust jackets, resulting in the colorful and vibrant display seen today.

I like books, and I like the way they look. I’m the first to admit I often buy books for their covers. Artbooks are among my favorite things, and I like to display them.

Venetian Window

Presented in front of the windows facing Lake Union are Venetians by Chihuly. Inspired by Italian Art deco glass, Chihuly began developing this body of work in 1988 with glass master Lino Tagliapietra and Benjamin Moore (1952–2021).
